Always Under Construction

Grades will be updated when 4-6 assignments have been completed since the last update.

Updated: May 14 , 2008

(The grade shown is for the semester, to date. Only Unit 4 assignments are displayed individually.)

As you would expect assignment completion is critical to success in the classroom and there is a direct correlation between assignment completion and performance. It is essential that students complete all their work.

Missing asignments can now be downloaded from the current unit Webpage. Just click on the box marked "Presentations and Assignments". This will take you to DOCUSHARE @lps.org. At the Docushare page choose the "Assignments" folder and select the missing assignment. The document will be downloaded to your computer.

Teachers are no longer allowed to post grades in their class rooms. Apparently this change in policy has come about because of a legal opinion rendered by LPS District Counsel. For the time being I will continue to post grades here.

Grading is based on the standard Irving Middle School Science Department scale shown below.

                              A   = 100% - 94%            C   = 81% - 78%
                              B+ = 90% - 93%              D+ = 77% - 74%
                              B   = 86% - 89%              D    = 73% - 70%
                              C+ = 85% - 82%              F    = 69% & Below

Your grade will be based on the total number of points you have accumulated at the end of each grading period. You will get a grade every 4.5 weeks based on all your work up to that point.

Roughly
40% of your semester grade will be based on your daily work. Another    40 % of your grade will be based on tests and quizzes, including the Criterion Referenced Tests (CRTs) given at the end of each quarter, and the remaining     20% will be based on your lab work, including listed papers and projects..

Extra credit may or may not be offered during the semester so you must keep up with your daily work and pass your exams to pass this course.

Grades are listed by period and by the last 4 digits of your student ID number. Missing assignments are listed as either MISSING (mi),  INCOMPLETE (inc) or ABSENT (abs). Grade shown as EXCUSED (exc) do not have to be completed and are not counted as missing. To review your grades and any missing assignments click on your period.
