This year intramural wrestling will begin in October. Any 7th and 8th graders interested in wrestling should attend an informational meeting today, Thursday, October. 5th after school in the gym. Students will be provided a schedule at this meeting. Practice for wrestling will begin Monday, October 9.
There will be an informational meeting for any 7th and 8th grade girls interested in playing basketball for Irving on Friday, October 6th after school in the gym. Practice for girls basketball will begin Wednesday, October 11th. Please check the Irving Intramurals website under Activities/Clubs for more information.
High School Information Night for 8th Grade Families
An informational presentation about preparing for high school will be offered on Tuesday, October 10. Speakers will give information about: the process of selecting a high school, LPS Focus Programs (Science, Arts & Humanities, and Bryan), the International Baccalaureate Program at Lincoln High, The Career Academy, Air Force Junior ROTC program at Northeast, Learn to Dream Scholarship Program, and EducationQuest.
Tuesday, October 10th – Lincoln High School auditorium 7:00-8:00 p.m.
Both sessions are open to the families of ALL students, no matter which high school your student plans to attend. If you have any questions about these special programs or transitioning to high school in general, you are encouraged to call the Counseling Center at your planned high school.
This week the skill of the week is to dress appropriately for school. The weather is changing with cooler mornings–please be a responsible student and make sure you dress appropriately for the day.
Attention all sports fans: do you like sports trivia or just talking about sports with your friends? Then you should consider joining the newest club at Irving. The Irving Sports Club. This club will begin October 24th after school in Room 110- Mr. Hammack’s room. There will be fun activities that involve all sports, including trivia, sports challenges, and other competitions. Come to the first meeting to see what it’s all about. If you have questions, talk to Mr. Hammack in Room 110.
