The 8th grade girls’ basketball B team will practice Thursday, and the A team will practice Friday.

The 8th grade art classes are taking a field trip to a home in the Irving community that has an awesome collection of 20th and 21st century art work. Art students in 8th grade classes need to get their parent permission slip in ASAP to Mrs. Connelly.

Students! This is a great opportunity to show off your creative skills, gain hours of community service work per submission and win $25.00 cash! Students will design greeting cards with the themes: Birthday, Christmas or Winter Holidays, Encouragement, Get Well Soon, Thank you (General), and Thank you (Military/Veteran). You may submit as many card designs as you wish. There are six categories. The deadline to hand in your designs is Oct. 24th.  There is a box in the office to drop off your design or you can give them to Mrs. Connelly. If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Connelly. Contest information is available in the art room, please stop by and get one!

Our annual volunteering and fundraising project starts this week, and its theme is “EASY AS PIE,” meaning that making a difference in the community and raising funds for our school can be as easy as pie! An assembly will be held on Wednesday to give you more information about it. First period classes will be competing against one another for an after school pizza pie party. They’ll be given a challenge each week for six weeks, and each week they meet their challenge they’ll be given a piece of pie for their pie chart. The class with the most pieces of pie at the end of the six weeks wins! (If there’s a tie, the class with the highest average of volunteer hours per student wins.) The first classroom challenge is simple: Have at least one student submit artwork for the ICOR art contest. The deadline is Friday, October 24, 3:00 p.m. If there are any questions about the art contest, please see Mrs. Connelly.
