The SOTW this week is to complete and turn in all assigned work. It is the start of the semester and we want you to start the semester off strong. When you complete and turn in all assigned work you are demonstrating that you are a successful 2nd semester Irving student.
Mr. Knight was nominated for a Staff Like by Ryan Roberts because he always gives us time to do things and always takes charge and makes us understand things. Mr. Ziola was nominated by Trinity Hollins because he motivates me and I am very happy while in gym with an awesome teacher. Mrs. Weddington was nominated by Conleigh Hemmer because she is, and was, the best teacher I’ve ever had. She’s very caring and kind with all her students. Mr. Irvin was nominated by Avery Weddington for always believing in me and others. Mrs. Kroenke was nominated by Nick Ebbeka because she helped with English and helped me learn more about English. Mrs. Hoffman was nominated by Dallas Caston because she helps anyone that needs it, and makes me actually like science.
Do you have anything in there about the Science Fair yet? I could write a little blurb about it if you don’t. Also, could you add another announcement about Science Fair Club tomorrow at 6th? Thanks!
Are you interested in participating in the Science Fair? If so, the Science Fair club would be a great way to help you get started on your experiment. Come to room 114 at 3:00 today (Thursday) to work with Ms. Bliss on your fascinating project. We can provide some materials and ideas to help get you started as well as perform our own fun experiments. Hope to see you there!

Parent/Guardian Informational Meetings
An important component in the transition process are the informational meetings at the six LPS high schools in January. Since students entering the ninth grade may choose the high school they want to attend in LPS, these meetings have been scheduled to give students and their guardians to attend more than one high school meeting before the February 2nd deadline for submitting the “High School Choice” form.
Rescheduled: Wed., Jan 24, 2018 Lincoln Southeast 6:30 pm
Rescheduled: Wed., Jan. 31, 2018 Lincoln Northeast 6:30 pm
Information about the focus schools and specialty programs offered at LPS can be found under the Schools tab at www.lps.org or by contacting a school counselor.
Are you interested in a career in engineering? Are you available after school on Wednesdays? Then you should come to the recreation center for engineering club. In this club you will design, build, and test a bridge using engineering principles, the engineering design process, and special engineer’s notebooks! It is taught by a former Irving alum and “real life” engineering student Rachael Wagner. To sign up come down to the rec center before January 24th and get enrolled. This club will meet every Wednesday starting January 24th.
