This week the SOTW is to complete and turn in all assigned work. When you complete your work and turn it in to your teachers, you are demonstrating you are a responsible student who wants to start the semester off on the right foot and keeping your grades up!

 

Parent/Guardian Informational Meetings

An important component in the transition process are the informational meetings at the six LPS high schools in January.  Since students entering the ninth grade may choose the high school they want to attend in LPS, these meetings have been scheduled to give students and their guardians to attend more than one high school meeting before the January 31st deadline for submitting the “High School Choice” form.

Are you interested in a career in engineering? Are you available after school on Wednesdays? Then you should come to the recreation center for engineering club. In this club you will design, build, and test a bridge using engineering principles, the engineering design process, and special engineer’s notebooks! It is taught by a former Irving alum and “real life” engineering student Rachael Wagner. To sign up come down to the rec center before January 24th and get enrolled. This club will meet every Wednesday starting January 24th.

 

The LPS Oral Spelling Bee will be Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Culler Middle School. The Spelling Bee is open to students in grades 5-8. More information is available from your English teacher.  Information is also available in the Parent Center on the LPS website.

ALL morning and after school choirs will begin this week. 7th grade morning choir will meet today..  Please see Mr. Robb or Mrs. Hunt if you have any questions.

 

Mr. Fox was nominated for a staff like by Caden Kontos because we learned a lot about algebra.  Mrs. Martindale was nominated by Paige P. because she always helps me and is an awesome teacher!

This Thursday the Irving Chimney Swift Club will be hosting Dr. Dennis Ferraro, a rock star herpetologist with UNL! Herpetology is a branch of zoology concerned with reptiles and amphibians. Dennis will be bringing some of his creatures with him for you to meet. The meeting will take place in 114 and end at 4:15. Bring your reptile and amphibian related questions for Mr. Ferraro. See Ms. Hughes if you have questions.

Chimney Swift Club meets today in room 114. Herpetologist Dr. Dennis Ferraro will be here to share about reptiles and amphibians! He will be bringing some of his critters with him! Plan to attend this very interesting and informative meeting today in room 114!

 

Mr. Faulkner was nominated for a Staff Like by Sonica for being patient with me and no matter what your always there for me.  Mr. Clough was nominated by Will Hansen because he is the nicest man I’ve ever met and explains lessons so my class can understand.

Miles DiLillo is the winner of Irving’s Geography Bee, Daniel Brozovic placed 2nd and Amir Tarkian placed third.  Congratulations on a job well done!

It is the last week of the semester and your last opportunity to make sure your grades are a reflection of all of your hard work so far this year.

 

*Mrs. Cejda was nominated by Lilly Riedel because she helped me pay for a book by letting me pay for it in food for the Food Bank.  Mr. Hammack was nominated by Peyton Gonzales because he is very nice and helps us with homework.  Mrs. Cox was nominated by Lindsey Welty because she is one of the nicest people I’ve met and she helped me whenever I needed it. Mrs. Pieper was nominated by Peyton Michener because she has a great smile.  Mrs. Martindale was nominated for a staff like by Audrey Lewis because she is a good teacher and is nice to me.  She’s funny too.  Mrs. Coleman was nominated by Jayden Witter because she is a nice person and she is the nicest person I’ve met. Are you interested in entering the Science Fair in 2018?  Well, this Science Fair club is for you!  We will be discussing how to enter the science fair and how to choose a project that will help you create something scientifically exciting. We will also get to conduct some of our own experiments as well.  Please stop by after school this Wednesday in Ms. Hughes’ room 114 to attend!

 

Please check Lost & Found in the cafeteria for any lost items.  We will be donating anything that is not claimed at the end of the semester.
